The World Cup reminder!
This past Friday began the start of the event of all events in the world…The World Cup. For a lot of you, soccer may not be your thing. But for the entire globe, it is without a doubt the largest event in the world. As someone who puts on events and works with clients that put on live events, I have the deepest respect for the immense event co-ordination and workload that it must take to pull off the World Cup.
What with the multiple venues, multiple games, multiple entertainment events, large crowds, moving all the teams and media around from city to city and all the product sales, it must require an enormous team of people and most importantly the most talented and incredible event co-ordinator to pull it off.
Which leads me to my tip for this week, if you are thinking of putting on an event for yourself, PLEASE do yourself a favour and hire someone to do it for you. I have seen so many clients and people that to try to pull their own events off themselves and run themselves ragged trying to juggle all of it.
Events are a lot of work with a lot of moving parts. If you are an Author, Speaker, or an Entrepreneur, then that is what you are!
So focus on delivering the strongest message ever to your audience and leave it to someone else who does events for a living. Focus on YOUR brilliance and let them focus on theirs. You don’t see the soccer players working in the stadium taking tickets and trying to guide the crowds through the door before the game or calling the airlines and hotels to makes reservations for themselves and book the stadium they are going to play in? No, they rely on someone else and their team to do that so they can focus on being a great soccer player and winning for their country.
It’s no different with you. Find someone who can handle and manage your event, from ticketing to marketing, to staging to securing the hotel, venue, audio and lighting. It’s no different with getting the event sponsored, that’s what we are here for! Focus on what you are desirous of being, a great speaker/author with a great message.
