GO ‘til they say NO!

Mitch here.  Happy Easter! I hope you are enjoying a great long weekend. Does this sound familiar? “I have tried calling and emailing the Director of Marketing several times but he hasn’t got back to me”.  It is not uncommon in today’s corporate environment for executives to be totally run of their feet, some to a point where it is not unusual for them to work 80 to 90 hours during the week and then they take more work home with them over the weekend or have to travel somewhere to work the next week. They are overworked for sure.

This can definitely lead to longer response times on anyone getting back to you from corporate America, so expect longer response times. What is a longer response time?  Well sometimes it can take weeks even a couple of months. You want to remember the 3P rule…Persistence Pays Profits and this is where you want to apply it.

This is where the 3P rule can be applied big time,  I personally use it with the rule “GO ‘til they say NO!”

If you haven’t heard from that Director, keep reaching out, email, Voicemail, Snail mail, whatever it takes. My opinion is if they haven’t gotten back to you then they haven’t given me a firm answer, either a Yes or a No. I will keep calling and emailing and doing whatever it takes until I get a response, and THEN keep calling and emailing until I get an answer, and you should be doing the same.

Don’t be afraid to be a bit of a pest, in fact you will surprised when you finally do get a hold of that Director and they say “Thanks for being so persistent, I have been super busy and meaning to call you” I have heard that response SO often over the years, and hear it a lot in today’s corporate environment.  So remember to use the 3P and apply it with GO ‘til they say NO!
