Do your Homework!

Mitch Mortimer here.  The inside of today’s big corporate world, can be like a maze, and often it is a puzzle that you are left to figure out on your own. It can take a lot of time to find the right person to talk to you.   So you want to make sure you have the all your ducks in a row when you get there.

You want to have all the information they need to not only make a decision but you don’t want to be caught not knowing something about the company that would cause them to send you back to the drawing board.

In the past few weeks I have spoken about demographics, measurable offers, providing an impression profile, and that is all information that companies will be looking for from you. But you also want to make sure you know what the company is looking for when they invest money, how are they spending their money in marketing, do your homework and be prepared.

Ask questions like are they spending money on TV, the internet, on social media, on sports events and so on.

By knowing how they are spending their money may give you some ideas how to leverage your program or integrate your program into their current marketing platforms that will get you a favourable decision.

The more relevant your opportunity to help them make money from other programs they are already invested in is always a good thing. You can save yourself a ton of time also, by having all the right stuff in your presentation can fast track your opportunity. Sometimes it will even help you get fast tracked like the game of snakes and ladders and your opportunity will slide or jump over steps in the corporate ladder…to that RIGHT person…
