Sameness doesn’t Sell…

If you want to grab the attention of a corporate partner, approach it from the angle of Sameness doesn’t Sell, you need to be different. You need to be different in how you approach them, be different in what you have to offer them, be different in how you are going to show them how to make money with you. In other words you need to BE Creative! When I work with clients, I always try to find the one thing that will make them different from everyone else. Usually I look for something that is relevant in today’s marketplace, maybe something that is happening in the news, whatever it is, I try to find it and then capitalize on the opportunity of what we have identified. Try to find that one thing that you have to offer that makes you stand out from the crowd.

Here is an example: We work with a client who is former professional body builder. His content and message is awesome and has nothing to do with his past body building career. Recently we have seen a lot of talk in the news about steroid use, and while his  message isn’t about that, as a body builder my client admittingly chose to use growth hormone, it is common practice in the professional ranks and he new the risks. But we were able to use this experience to create an opportunity for him to go speak to youth organizations about the risks involved and why kids should not use steroids. Why did we choose to do this, because it was in the news, it was relevant. What did it produce? A lot of corporate interest about contributing to a message of social responsibility while getting their branded products in the hands of thousands of kids in the United States. Why? Because it’s different.

 Remember, Sameness doesn’t Sell…
